I have windows 7 so I am not sure. However I know Rayne Dowell has had some funky stuff going on after she updated to 8.1 Maybe she can give some insite
Sally Sue Ember I've been running HoA on Windows 8.1 for many months now without any real issues. I jumped from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 bypassing Windows 8 so I can't speak to a specific difference between HoA performance between 8 and 8.1. Only that I rarely have any issues on 8.1
Oh, thanks Charles Dunkley and Terry Leigh Britton haven't even tried 8.1 because I anticipated problems. Will give it a try on my laptop with 8.1to see what happens. Sally Sue Ember, sorry I can't help, have no experience yet.
Rayne Dowell I ran into an issue installing it in that Chrome was still running in the background even after I closed it. I had to right-click on the taskbar and start the Task Manager, then right-click on the Chrome icons and stop those processes.
Oh, yeah - if you just need to verify whether you have a 64-bit operating system, right-click on "This PC" and select Properties and it shows a page with that kind of info (and how much RAM you have, etc.)
Ok, downloaded Terry Leigh Britton hope it solves some of my problems with loading and speed of my computer. I have i7 processor and a ton of Ram so no reason for the problems I'm having. Most appreciate your advice and the link.
Sally Sue Ember Heh... maybe! But I'm almost willing to bet that if you were running the 32-bit version of Chrome that your problems lay with that and not with Windows 8! For help, get on with the User2User group - perhaps that will be a topic we can talk about on Friday's 2 PM EST show.

ReplyDeleteI haven't experienced any problems from 8.1 either.

ReplyDeleteRayne Dowell If you haven't installed the 64-bit version via this link, then you most certainly are running the 32-bit version now.

ReplyDeleteYes, that's what I was experiencing - quad-core with 10-gigs of RAM and Chrome was dog slow. Now it is zippy and I love it again!
I need help. Argh.
