Charlotte Pierce's new podcast

Greetings, and Happy New Year!

As part of my rowing obsession, I'm producing a regular podcast called "Ready, Row! USA" on the international Rowing.Chat network. We're using Google Hangouts rather than Zoom, so that it deposits directly onto YouTube. It's the system that Rowing Chat requires at the present time.

I had a few questions, since I've been using Zoom more than Hangouts lately. Is it possible to put lower thirds on Hangouts any more? I could not get that to function the other day. It's always been problematic, but it did work well at one time. I've been using Hangouts on Air since 2012.

Any other new developments in Hangouts that y'all know of, that I should be looking out for? Is Google going to kill it or alter it that you know of?

Thanks to Andrew for setting this up, and look forward to sharing with y'all!

  1. NOTE: I'm also going to explore doing "remote coaching" using video and Hangouts or Zoom for screen-sharing with rowers who don't have access to regular coaching. Coaches would be using a program called "Coach's Eye" to draw on the screen, and I'd handle the session setup, screen sharing, etc. Thoughts?

  2. Hi Charlotte,
As you know I now use Zoom for almost all video stuff.Hangout Toolbox no longer works so Lower Thirds seem to be a thing of the past

Eventually Hangouts will be with Hangout Chats and Meets from G-Suite but that is a long range plan with no dates or even years mentioned.

Sounds like what you want to do should be fairly easy. If you'd like to do a test run just let me know.
