Interesting. That is a way for you to keep up with the hangouts that you know about (and it is appreciated by me for exposure to this group...whatever that is worth), but I am wondering how we gain new folks through discovery....
One good way is to join other beer based communities here on Google ( there are over 180) and start engaging people there on whatever they are talking about and eventually they learn about you and your community. It takes time. If you join a new community and your 1st post is a "Hey! Come over to my community!" type of thing, it can be very off-putting to some people.
Oh..I don't have a problem with that, my community is far and away the leader in the craft beer community space. We keep it moderated, and that keeps it going. My trouble is that, I feel that we are not introducing our show to people that wouldn't come looking for it. (the thought process in my head is of the channel surfer that doesn't know about the craft beer presence on G+). There are nights, that I want to just watch HoA's that have nothing to do with my current hobbies. I want to discover. On YouTube, you float from one subject to another. On HoA's you have to know what you want to look for....it seems....
