How to Create a Hangout on Air with a Traditional Google+ Event
This free video guide on using the Google+ Traditional Event method of running a Hangout on Air broadcast has some extra features that the other 2 methods do not.
This is video 3 of 3 in the AllAboutHangouts.com Free Quickstart series. This set of 3 free videos is designed to walk you through the most common ways to start up a HOA (Hangout on Air) broadcast. The AllAboutHangouts website offers Free & Paid video training and more, taking you from Hangout Basics to Total Hangout Confidence!
In this 3-part quickstart series, the first one shows how to use Scheduled HOA Events, the next one demonstrates starting a HOA via YouTube. This 3rd method of using YouTube & Google+ Events has the most moving parts and requires more manual connections but also offers the most flexibility.
Here's the direct link to the Traditional Event and HOA guide:

Oddly enough, though all 3 methods create an "Event" of some kind, this is the only method that starts out on the Google+ Event Page. This method was the original way to create an event that involved an HOA broadcast video connected to that event. It still has the most practical options of the 3... but it is less automated.
Please share this quickstart HOA video tutorial with those you know are interested in all aspects of HOA Broadcasting options.

Avoid Event Spam! - How to adjust Google Calendar settings
If you are getting HOA Events added to your calendar and you have no idea why, then check your calendar settings.
This has been a concern for many years, and if you don't know where to adjust the settings, it can get quite bothersome.
(1) Go to your Google Calendar and click the "settings" Gear Icon.
(2) Then click on the "Settings" menu choice
(3 & 4) Scroll down until you see the section re. Events shown in the image here and say "No" to both options.
(5) Save your changes.
You'll be adjusting:
1. Show events you have declined
2. Automatically add invitations to my calendar
This will adjust things so that only the Events you say "Yes" or "Maybe" to end up on your calendar (as it should be IMO).
We'll be hosting a public HOA (Hangout on Air) Event on Feb. 5, 2015 that covers who gets alerts, invites & notifications to HOA Events. Hope you can join us.
If you are interested in getting going with Hangouts & Hangouts on Air, here is a great place to start: http://AllAboutHangouts.com
