Hi Andrew Hatchett,
I am wondering if you have run into this, too: My guests cannot pull up the Hangout Toolbox becuase they cannot find it. The do NOT have the 3 little dots under the icons of the left-side icons of the Hangout window and when I have it already activated and re-activate it, they don't get the message to click quickly.
Is there an easy way to have them get the toolbox?

While it can't be used to add text while posting, it makes adding text before posting really simple.

Hi Andrew Hatchett . I am still trying to figure out the Toolbox thing. Vivekananda Baindoor Rao suggested to delete the app and re-install it, but it gives me the same error:
this is what I get:

401. That’s an error.

Error: invalid_client

no registered origin

Request Details
That’s all we know.

And my guest whoi has downloaded the toolbox for the very first time, gets the error, too. Is there anybody who knows what 401 and "
no registered origin" means?

Hi! I was just approved. I am VERY excited because I am starting to teach a live course, scheduled for Monday -- and there are still glitches in my Live Stream HOA. I got a LOT of help from Craig Long at the forum for HOA and also Chad LaFarge and harish Bali on the forum as well. However, Craig suggested you, so this is great!

I have 2 questions: #1 in testing it out w a friend, there seems to be an echo. She is hearing me twice. I did NOT have this problem with another friend, just one. We tried lowering my sound and hers but it did not help. Also the video replay does not show this problem.

#2 My course needs to have all students be anonymous. These students have been personally screened by me by phone. How do we make the chat not be their real names?

So, finally heard back from YouTube, but I am flummoxed and need advice. Peggy K, +Craig Long, Andrew Hatchett, Michael Daniels, Meloney Hall (yes; I listened to your podcast, Meloney!), and anyone else, please weigh in!

After complaining on Twitter and elsewhere for three days straight, I finally received a notice that I am no longer "suspended," but (see below) it is horrible customer service.

There is no apology, no explanation, no way to tell what actually got flagged nor how to prevent it in the future. It was all YouTube's fault (I never violated any ToS), but they still have this not-so-subtle victim-blaming thing going on in this email, right? Why?

There WAS NO CONTENT TO BE FLAGGED! This video never streamed! There was nothing to be "taken down"! How (and with what) did anyone "review my video"?? For what?

It was flagged for the title and description, during set-up! And, I used almost the exact same wording I have used for the previous 50 Episodes of my talk show, *CHANGES* conversations between authors, as before. Even if it had streamed, there is no "copyright" violation possible. Each Episode is always just I and one author talking about our own work and general topics. period.

I am so angry that YouTube is run by crazed 'bots and idiotic, irresponsible humans who apparently have a policy to "shoot first, ask questions never," presuming guilt and offering no recourse or explanation when they are wrong. Why do we put up with this?

And, given all the problems you all are listing, here, with HOAs, now, I'm reluctant even to try to set one up again, again.


Here is their "get out of jail" email, unedited:

It seems that when they added the Chat feature to the new Video Call interface they also removed the ability to return to the old interface... or am I blind?

I was on a HVC this morning from desktop and noticed that there was a chat feature enabled on the left hand side.
Has anybody else got a chance to test this?
This was one of the many suggested features for the new HVC platform.

UGH!!!  help pls.  For one of our LIve Streaming shows we are trying to get 2 ladies on as guests to talk about "how to pick a good doggie day camp"   One lady refuses to get a gmail.  She says she uses everything through her ICloud including hangouts using Webinar Jam as her wrapper.  I keep telling her she has to have some type of google account to come in.  Am I missing something?

Here is what she says:  all of my google accounts (google voice, google analytics, google hangouts, etc) I use my iCloud email.

Michael Daniels Hello, Micheal.  A few weeks ago, I asked Andrew Hatchett about green screen apps for HOA and he directed me to you and your use of ManyCam.  Have visited the site and it looks like what I want but I would appreciate any insight you have about have an optimal setup for using it. 

Right now, I'm using a Toshiba laptop, i7 processor,  8 gig ram, and an NVIDIA graphics card.   I also have a Microsoft LifeCam connected in addition to the builtin webcam.  Have made the LifeCam the default on HOA but I can't control the zoom, etc. once it is engaged with HOA.  It returns to wide angle even if I zoomed it in before starting HOA.  So wonder if the camera controls mentioned in ManyCam would override HOA and let me control LifeCam.

Ok!  This is a lot!  So, please know that I appreciate any insights you have to offer.  Basically, I'm curious about how well the green screen works and options for camera control in HOA (would get a different camera if necessry). Thank you!

Hello User2UserLive I have a question: I need to feel a little clearer when I want to promote an interview if I should do the following: create an event and share with public  and then plan a hangout too which gets shared with public as well. Does that mean people get two notices? Basically,  what is the difference between creating an event and planning a hangout in terms of promoting an interview you are going to do. Is it too much to do both? I don't want to bombard people with notices of an upcoming interview. I just want to sometimes give notice ahead of time and wasn't sure if I just did 'plan hangout' or if I should create an event too. Any feedback is appreciated.
